Canada Bike Show

Back

Keith Miller sent me some pictures from a new type of bike racing event held in Canada. Since I wasn't there and don't know much about it, I'll used Keith's explanation of the event to tell the story at the bottom of the page, seems like a pretty cool time!

Jason and Keith on the 4 man gate on the left. Notice the difference in technique. Just kidding, Jason took off too early and hit the gate, not sure if he hit the dirt.

And the winners are......

Look who brought home the Bling-Bling!

Seems Industrial Ketchup is really big in Canada!

This was our first experience with a four cross event. This was actually an

International Bike show held inside the Trade Center and the Ricoh Arena in

Toronto. The motos were set up on a time schedule so the attendees of the

bike show could experience the thrill of mountain cross and BMX. The track

was completely dirt but was very limited to space. The first corner saw

plenty of spills...just about every moto someone went down there. Ohio's

very own Billy Au went over 3 days before the race to build the track. He

did a very good job considering the time and space limitations. Most of the

racers were on mountain bikes. There was an amateur and pro class in

mountain cross, 20in. BMX and Cruiser. The highlight of the weekend was the

attendance of Brian Lopes who is a very well known mountain bike rider and

former AA pro in BMX. He has a new book out called Mastering Mountain Bike

Skills. From what we have read, the book is filled with very useful

information on skills needed to ride your bike to its limit. The riders from

Ohio were Jerrod Huffman, Jason Bisssel, Keith Miller and Billy Au. We all

made our main events and went home with prizes and money. This will be a

destination for us in the next year. I hope to see you at the track or the

trail soon. Keith.
