Work Party

 

 

  

Everyone is welcome to put time into making our track a better place to be.

Work parties are organized to get the track ready for race conditions or complete special projects. Sometimes they are organized and other times they happen when a few people just show-up to work when they have the time to do so.

Sometimes the kids ride the track while the adults work, other times no riding can occur because track conditions are poor or we are literally on the track itself.  

The work parties have been a lot of fun, good people have that impact.  When everyone puts in a little work great things happen, and no one person is carrying the load. 

There are always weeds to pull, things to be cleaned, lawn to be mowed, and ruts to be filled and leveled. 

 

 

Note:

Practice makes perfect. The riders who's parents are always working at the track do better because they end up getting more track time. This is a benefit the family earns by putting in time working at the track. Being an adult myself, I sometime work an hour or so and try to get in a few laps before it gets dark. Work parties are open to all, there are no little clicks, just people that show up and work at the track in one way or another. We like our sport, we like our track, and we love spending time with our children and each other. We marvel at the difference we've made at our track, in our children's lives, and for other families that have discovered the sport of BMX. That is our reward. 

Is that the Boss?

We always give Joe a hard time, but we all know very well how much time Joe and his family put into Shady Lane BMX. That is why he is the Boss!

2007 Work Party Schedule:

Every Sunday in April starting at 11am.

 

 

We often have a list of projects that we need or would like to get done. We are always looking for someone to step up and help. Everyone has special skills or contacts that make projects happen. If you would like to get more involved please let us know so we can keep you in mind. I don't think you'll find that we'll turn help away too often! So please talk to us, let us know what you can bring to the table, and we'll find a task that you'll enjoy doing. This is what makes the wheels go around at Shady Lane BMX.
